Fluffcember Day 4: Christmas Sweater

"No! Take this off! Zaveid! Uncle Aifread! Tell my brother to take this hideous thing off!!!"

Zaveid flinched, staring at the text he was reviewing at the moment. Aifread having leaned against him, holding a cup of coffee in his hands, seeming equally as confused, as he looked up from his phone. Across the room, sitting at their dinner table, Silva and Dezel looked up from Silva's homework, as Edna's voice rang through the entire house. Definitely very upset about something her brother had done again. Or rather was wearing. Which made the situation for Zaveid even more confusing because Eizen had a rather nice style. At least in his opinion, though he might be a bit biased in that regard. Aifread and Zaveid looked at each other, with Aifread shrugging his shoulders and going back to playing with his phone when nothing else came of it.

Not even that long afterwards, Edna stormed into the room, closely followed by Eizen. Silva had gone back to doing his homework, while Dezel helped him with that. Only Zaveid was still waiting for something to come of Edna's exclamation. And he did see it very clearly. Eizen wearing the most hideous sweater Zaveid had ever laid his eyes on. A fuzzy, forest green thing, with a brightly sparkling, too big motive on it.

Zaveid blinked at the siblings, before placing the sheet of paper down and raising his hands to rub his eyes. In no way convinced that Eizen would actually go through with wearing something like that. Zaveid would just really, really love to know where he had gotten that thing from. Because he knew he hadn't been around when Eizen had bought it.

"Please tell me this is a joke," Zaveid said.

Aifread looked up again at the same time, while Edna fled to Zaveid's side, glaring at Eizen. Soon enough was the room flooded by Aifread's booming laughter at what he was seeing. Hopefully at what he was seeing.

The situation was only made somewhat worse by the fact that Eizen seemed to be completely serious in wearing that thing. And that when he was supposed to drive Edna, Dezel and Silva to meet with the rest of their friend group. For a big Christmas sleepover.

"Zaveid, please drive you us to Alisha's place. If Rose sees him with that…that…thing on, she'll never let me live it down," Edna whined.

Just as Aifread started to calm down from his fun, Dezel looked up and started laughing as well. Zaveid still tried to make sense of what he was seeing. He knew he had some shirts lying around that weren't objectively speaking the nicest. Some shirts he had bought purely for the fun of it.

But Eizen wasn't like that. Even Aifread would once in a while buy something with such a hideous pattern that Zaveid contemplated throwing it out before he could wear it. But not Eizen. It was a pure rarity to find anything with a motive amongst his clothes.

"I have no idea what you two are complaining about," Eizen said.

Zaveid looked up at Edna, who in turn groaned and threw her hands over her head. Aifread just shook his head and put his coffee aside. He turned his full attention on Eizen now, definitely having decided to have his fun with this situation.

"Aw, come on, I think he looks quiet dashing, doesn't he, Zavi-babe?" Aifread asked.

Eizen glared at Aifread for a moment before sighing and shaking his head. Turning around to approach Silva and Dezel. Dezel grinning at him, while Silva had a hard time not to laugh. Definitely thinking the same as everyone else, except Eizen, about the sweater he was sporting. Silva turned back to his homework rather quickly, as Zaveid got up from the couch and stretched his arms over his head.

He definitely couldn't let Eizen do that to Edna. Not when Zaveid knew Rose definitely wouldn't let her forget about that atrocity Eizen was wearing. And that would only put Edna into a perpetually bad mood, for as long as Rose thought it was necessary to keep it up. Which could be a long time, If she felt like it. Zaveid didn't know wether or not Edna was still teasing Rose with something.

"Yeah, not really. Alright, I'm driving you kids," Zaveid said.

Edna's expression changed immediately, from the frowning glare she had looked at Eizen with, to a beaming smile she gifted Zaveid. Zaveid chuckled in turn and lightly patted her head. Just restraining himself enough to not ruffle her hair, and ruin her hairstyle she surely had spend quiet some time at.

Zaveid walked over to Eizen, pressing a kiss against his cheek, a shiver running down his spine, as his hand accidentally brushed against the rough fabric of the sweater. Not the good kind of shiver. He hated that fabric already. Yeah, he'd definitely make Aifread burn that thing, the moment it made it's way into the laundry bin.

Eizen pulled his mouth down into a pout, before he sighed and crossed his arms in front of his chest. Still not seeing what was wrong with the sweater he was wearing. Or maybe he was, and was putting on a show, to annoy or amuse all of them.

"I love you, Eizen, but please by the time I'm back, get changed, alright?" Zaveid said.

He supposed that was enough of a cue, for both Dezel and Silva to wrap it up as well. From the looks of it, did Silva seem pretty done with his homework too. Thankfully, or else Zaveid would have been rather uncomfortable letting him go. He didn't need to hear another rant about Silva being too slow to keep up with the homework, when Zaveid knew full well he just needed to take his time once in a while. His kid was a smart one after all, of that he was sure.

Eizen rolled his eyes and looked away, grumbling something beneath his breath. He turned around and assumed Zaveid's place on the couch, to which Aifread just scooted away slightly, fully immersed in his mobile game again. Zaveid clapped his hands and nodded, walking into the hallway to put on his shoes.

"Is it that bad?" he heard Eizen's voice.

Zaveid let out a sigh, as Edna just screamed 'Yes', to which Dezel and Aifread burst out into laughter again. Zaveid chuckled as well, as did Silva, when he joined Zaveid in the hallway.

"Whoever gave it to you hates you, Eizen," Zaveid said.

He raised his voice loud enough so Eizen would be able to hear it hopefully. He still wondered a little bit when exactly Eizen had bought that thing, and why none of them had been around to prevent him from that. Zaveid knew he would have for sure. And for as much as Aifread liked to tease Eizen, he definitely wouldn't have let him walk out of a store with that as well. Neither would have any of their kids. Well, Silva maybe, though only because he would have been to polite to actually say something.

Zaveid flinched when Eizen came up behind him, wrapping his arms around him. He was glad, that he had just finished putting on his jacket, and thus couldn't really feel the scratchy fabric anymore.

"Alright, I change. But only because it's you," he whispered.

That send another shiver down Zaveid's spine, though this time definitely the good kind of shiver. Maybe he would make something nice for dessert and pick up Eizen's favourite whisky on his way home after dropping the kids off. Just so placate his wounded heart, after all, all of them had bullied him out of his brand new sweater.

Zaveid turned his head to give Eizen a peck on his lips, softly smiling at him. Yeah, he'd definitely do that. And then he would get it out of Eizen why he had thought it was a good idea to buy that thing.

"Good, I'll just drop the kids off and then I'm right back with you two, alright?" he said.

Eizen nodded and let him go. There was something of a mischievous glint in his eyes, which confused Zaveid quiet a bit. He couldn't really place it at all. Had Eizen planned this, so he wouldn't need to drive the kids around? Even when he normally would do it gladly, just to know Edna got to her destination save and sound?

Zaveid shrugged his shoulders and got the car out of the garage. Aifread's car that was. Zaveid wouldn't touch Eizen's old rust bucket if his life depended on it. And he liked Aifread's car more. While it was old, Aifread always made sure to keep it in perfect shape. Unlike Eizen…

As he waited in the car for the kids to come out, he already thought about what he would make for dinner. With the kids out he had much more liberties. And also could spend the evening on the couch, with Eizen and Aifread. Cuddling with them, while watching shitty romcoms and laughing about how bad they were. Especially the Christmas ones that were on everywhere right now. For dinner he had already planned to make pizza, the dough was already rising in a warm place after all. Zaveid could make something with the puff pastry he had frozen for dessert. Whipping up a cream, or he could make some cream puffs and fill them with some liqueur cream. He could prep the dough while the pizza was in the oven, and then they could bake while they ate.

And afterwards he'd finish them off, and they could enjoy those as nice snacks over the evening. Zaveid nodded, thinking about the plans while the kids talked about the movies they would watch in the back seat. A nice evening with just the three of them was something Zaveid looked forward to more than he'd like to admit. He loved his boys, just like he loved Edna, but sometimes he just wanted some alone time with Eizen and Aifread. And tonight was such a night.

Where he would cuddle with them, and just spend time with them, being content. Being happy, that his life had taken a turn for the better, after some rough years. That he had been able to fall in love with not one but two wonderful man, and was able to enjoy them loving him in turn. The more Zaveid fantasised, the more the warm feeling within him spread and he couldn't wait to drop the kids off. They would be in good hands with Alisha and her parents.

On the way home Zaveid stopped by the store to pick up the rest he needed for his plans and rushed home, barely within the speed limits. He really just wanted to be done with it. And really, really hoped Eizen had actually changed into something more acceptable. If not, Zaveid would pout at him until he did. That usually helped. Because he refused to cuddle with Eizen, when he was wearing that thing, and now, after having thought about it the entire drive, he really wanted to cuddle with his lovers!

Though the moment Zaveid entered the house again, bag in hand, closing the door behind him with his foot, something seemed…off. The lights were off, except for the Christmas lights they had put up, and some softer light coming from upstairs.

"I'm back!" Zaveid called.

He craned his neck to see if Aifread and Eizen were still in the living room, only to see nothing. Shrugging his shoulders he walked to the kitchen, a slightly weird feeling in his stomach. As he turned, he did hear hushed voices from the living room. So they were there.

Zaveid sighed and shook his head, smiling to himself. He'd let them surprise him then, he supposed. He had made some plans on the fly as well after all.

"I changed…"

Zaveid chuckled as he put the snacks away and placed the whiskey, as well as the rum he had decided to get on a whim on the counter. Eizen's voice had dropped into that low kind of tone again, that cause Zaveid to heat up all over. For now he only hummed to acknowledge him, pretending to be busy.

Zaveid turned around, curious about what Eizen had changed into, only to stop immediately upon seeing him. Smirk on his face as he still was wearing that horrible sweater. Only that horrible sweater. Zaveid's eyes widened at the sight, blood rushing to his face as well as his nether regions immediately. Aifread came into sight only a little bit later, similar smirk on his face, matching sweater on. Once again, only the sweater.

That was when Zaveid realized that this really had been a plan all along. To get Zaveid to drive the kids to Alisha's place. So Aifread and Eizen could prepare that. And that they had planned that together. Because this was the first evening in weeks they had to themselves.

"So? I still think we look quiet…nice, don't we, Zavi?" Aifread asked.

He had placed an arm around Eizen's shoulder, effectively hanging off of him, while grinning at Zaveid. Who was just standing in front of the kitchen counter, words stuck in his throat, as his pants got tighter by the second. Here he had planned for a nice, cosy, warm evening. Well, Zaveid was sure he'd get quiet hot as the evening progressed.

Eizen was the first one to approach him, and Zaveid finally tore his gaze away from everything that was not the sweater. Looking away, his face unbearably hot.

"So, I suppose you won't help up get rid of those…hideous sweaters?" he asked.

His breath hot against Zaveid's ear, as Aifread chuckled at the visible shiver running through Zaveid's body. A low chuckle, doing things to Zaveid. And both of them knew exactly what they were doing.

"Oh, please, I'm sure he'll lend a…helping hand," Aifread said.

Zaveid turned his head to look at him. Bad mistake he realized. Though he hadn't stood a fighting chance from the beginning anyway. And even less as he saw Aifread having wrapped one hand around his half hard cock already.

Zaveid let himself get pulled out of the kitchen, up to their bedroom. He supposed he could go along with their whims, as long as he got his cuddles afterwards. And Zaveid knew he would.

I wanted to use your prompt but i'm gonna level with you, i had no idea what to write sldkfjjd so instead i dug around some prompts i have saved and came out with this,, i hope it's enjoyable even tho it's not super polished :D

Mikleo was unwinding for the day, book in his hands and legs tucked up as he leaned against the headboard of an inn bed, when Rose slammed the door open and demanded he come with her to restock at the market. He glared over his book. He’d just gotten comfortable, too.

“What do you even need me for?” He grumbled, half-heartedly dipping his gaze back down to his book to finish the paragraph he was on.

Rose grinned. “To carry things. Sorey and Lailah are busy and Dezel said no, so you’re my next best bet.”

Mikleo wrinkled his nose. “Ask Edna? You can see that I’m busy as well.”

“Reading doesn’t count as busy,” Rose scoffed, “and I don’t think Edna would even listen if I tried to ask. C’mon.”

“Reading does count as busy. I’m doing something, so I’m busy. Just go by yourself.” He slouched down and continued said reading, fully intent on ignoring her until she left.

Mistake number one, Rose doesn’t give up if you ignore her. This was proved to him, once again, when she marched over, plucked the book right out of his hands, and smacked him on the head with it.

“Hey!”

Rose smacked him again. “Don’t you ‘hey’ me, mister. Just come with me, it’s no big deal.”

Mikleo sighed long and heavy. “You’re sure making it into one.”

She smacked him again, on the shoulder this time, and Mikleo had half a mind to drench her in revenge.

“Stop being such a stick in the mud and come on.”

Mikleo flicked a bit of moisture in her face in the end, just to be petty, and said, “First of all, refusing to accompany you on a shopping trip when I’m trying to relax hardly makes me a stick in the mud,”

Rose opened her mouth to interrupt him so he threw a glare her way and continued over any sound she dared to make.

“Second of all, since you won’t stop pestering me, fine. I’ll come with you.”

“Great! Let’s go so we can be done.” Rose snagged him by the arm and dragged him out of the room. He barely managed to snatch his shoes from the floor as he stumbled along after her.

“Just don’t blame me if people give you weird looks when your stuff looks like it’s floating.” He huffed, a sort of final grumbled protest.

They made their way toward the front of the inn, where Sorey and Lailah seemed to be... doing origami? So apparently those two folding paper is busier than him reading a book. He has a feeling that Rose, possibly, had done this almost exclusively to annoy him. Great, fantastic. At least Sorey seems to be having fun.

And on that note...

Sorey glanced up briefly and, when their eyes caught, smiled so big and soft Mikleo couldn’t help the quirk of his own lips.

“Going out?” Sorey asked, abandoning the—whatever his wad of paper was supposed to be—in favor of conversation with Mikleo.

“Yeah,” Mikleo sighed dramatically and leaned his hip against the table’s edge, “Rose is making me carry things.”

“She could’ve asked me.” Sorey hummed. “I would’ve helped.”

“Yeah, well.” Mikleo kicked the side of Sorey’s shoe and jerked his chin toward the mess of paper on the table. “You were too busy, apparently.”

Sorey kicked him back and went to say something in return, but whatever it was was quickly drowned out by Rose’s whining ‘come ooon Mikleo’.

Mikleo rolled his eyes and shot back and droned ‘coming!’.

“I’ll be back in a bit then.” This he directed at Sorey, grinning just for him as he went to follow Rose.

“Hold on a second.” Sorey caught his arm, and Mikleo looked back in question. “Goodbye kiss?” Sorey puckered his lips obnoxiously and fluttered his eyelashes.

Heat rushed to Mikleo’s face and burned at the tips of his ears. ”Now?” In plain sight? Where everyone could see? Well, everyone insofar as those who could see him.

“Come on, Mikleo, just one? Just a peck.” Sorey wheedled playfully, leaning towards him.

On the one hand, sure, Mikleo didn’t mind giving Sorey kisses when he asked. On the other, this was not just between the two of them when—when others were around. Sorey had the luxury of practically zero shame in these endeavors while Mikleo wanted to cast his spectral cloak and hide forever.

Oh, actually.

Mikleo glanced around, noted that no humans besides Rose were particularly paying them any attention, and cast said spectral cloak around himself and Sorey. He could hear Sorey trying not to laugh at him, but whatever.

“Alright jerk,” he whisper-shouted, placing his hand on Sorey’s shoulder and leaning in. “You get one kiss.”

Sorey’s smile stretched wide, and gods help him but Mikleo was so weak to it, and he smiled back. Then he leaned in just that tad bit more, hovering just in front of Sorey’s face and catching the way his eyes practically glittered before he pressed their lips together. Firm but soft, short and fleeting. He leaned back and lest he get caught up in Sorey’s smile again, flicked him in the forehead.

“Hey! Ow...” Sorey whined, now pouting.

Mikleo stuck his tongue out and patted his head with faux consolation before dispelling his spectral cloak.

“So meeaaan.” Sorey grumbled, to which Mikleo faked ignoring him—even if it did make him smile, just a little—and finally moved to actually follow Rose.

Rose, who gave him a look he very deliberately ignored, held open the door for him just long enough to get them both outside. And since Mikleo had some sense of self-preservation, he continued to ignore any and all conversation with Rose for the rest of their relatively short outing.

Just finished watching a walkthrough of Tales of Zestiria, and I must say it is as HYPE as its opening.

My favourite parts:

Sorey and Mikleo bickering — actually, every sormik scene

I swear 99.9% of Mikleo revolves around Sorey, the other 0.1% is him getting teased by everyone (this could be his biggest writing strength and flaw depending on who you ask)

The opening song. A BANGERRRRRR

The different branching routes you can take in Ladylake. Sell the knife? The pipe? Don’t sell both? Sell the pipe later on to get a cool hat as well? How do you enter the Sacred Blade ceremony? YOU CAN CHOOSE

Mikleo leaving Sorey, in the game: Oh don’t worry, Mikleo will be fine, I trust Mikleo to take care of himself :) :)

In the anime: dkjasfnlD MIKLEO DID WHAT??! LAILAH WE MUST GO AFTER MIKLEO RIGHT AWAY

Tbh the argument ‘arc’ he has with Sorey? One of the best parts of the game.

'Does a frog think of getting rid of snakes?’ ‘OH SO AM I A FROG NOW?’ ‘Your LIABILITY will be waiting in the inn’

When in the manga this slow burn (JUST GET CONTRACTED WITH MIKLEO ALREADY) gets extended to after Sorey contracts with Edna

When Mikleo calls Sorey out on his blindness in a skit THEY NOTICE EVERYTHING ABOUT EACH OTHER OKAY

Yeah also, just thinking about how Sorey’s known Mikleo’s true name for a long time now HNNNRNNHSDGGGGGHHHH

Mikleo using his rod not as a conduit for magic but as a whacking tool. He has a mystic arte Crystal Rod where he throws his rod at the enemy saying NOPE (best...) and a mystic arte Final Player where he uses it like a hammer saying “I’ll crush you! Again! Again and again!!��� smacking the enemy into the ground LOLLLL

That One Mystic Arte where Edna rides on her umbrella like it’s a flying broomstick and shoots out earth rocks with a finger gun

Zaveid coming out of nowhere at random times, busting out his persona shooting himself in the head and demanding that they fight him

Rose shaking her hands with Sorey at supersonic speed when Sorey gets her to hear the seraphim and she thinks she’s hearing ghosts

The whole ‘we’re married’ scene when they get to Rolance, and the whole joke of Sergei continuing to think Rose and Sorey are married

Dezel laughing at Lailah’s lame animal jokes in the background

Dezel not being able to see, but that’s okay… because he can read the wind!

Dezel being the walking encyclopaedia for all animals and plants bc he’s been everywhere

Rose wants to catch a butterfly and sell it for money, but Dezel interjects and tells her it’s a ‘shae monyurose’ moth, so Rose gives up on catching it, saying people don’t pay a lot for moths

Another skit where Sorey and Rose want to catch these rabbits to eat, (they’re cute... AND delicious.) Dezel is horrified and chases them away by shouting really loudly (HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT??!!)

Everyone who plays Zestiria complaining about how Alisha isn’t a permanent team member, then having mixed debates about whether the anime saved or broke the story with Alisha-Armatization

I love how he just appears out of nowhere and gets him to fight you, multiple times, in both Zestiria AND Berseria

Dezel suggesting they could just fly all the way to the top but Sorey and Mikleo go “But we WANT to see the ruins...!”

In the bad ending Heldalf is just like ‘nothin doing… just standing here…’ when the team goes in and slays him

Heldalf: You want to defeat me, right? But if you do, you can’t get the TRUE ending… bitch

Sorey:

I love how Rose and Alisha are uncommon heroines, using lances and twin blades instead of magic (Mikleo takes that one, hah). 

It’s like the writers of Zestiria were like Hmm. How do we explore the dark elements in this game by showing how people in Age of Chaos possess immense malevolence in their hearts and align it to the main story, and then went, Got it. Assassins. (Story of how Shepherd Sorey went gallivanting around with a princess *cough cough redactedbecauseshedoesn’texistinthegame* and an assassin~~)

Mikleo: Zaveid, there is literally NO REASON for us to fight. At all.

Zaveid: You gotta beat this ass first

And I think that is very sexy of him

Apparently if you take Dezel out of your team during the third fight with Zaveid, he will yell at you

Zaveid, T-posing on the ground: oh don’t mind me, just setting death flags for the only other wind seraph in this game so I can fill the XXX-shaped hole in your team later on in the game. Also here, take my glock

Rose “I just noticed, whenever Mikleo gets angry, it always has something to do with Sorey” after merchants look at Sorey and think he’s a con artist Shepherd, then in a later skit comments that No, that’s not true Mikleo does get angry even when it doesn’t involve Sorey, then Sorey says, Nah, he’s not angry, just overreacting.

When the plot says Sorey and Mikleo were destined to be the Shepherd and Sub Lord all along :o :v :O

Zaveid in a skit doing flower fortune readings bc he’s worried that the group hates him bc he was all FIGHT ME! before, but Lailah cheers him up with her own flower fortune telling (‘Uh, your origami flower only has... one petal Lailah’) saying Zaveid is their friend AWWWW

One of the main messages Zestiria delivers is how one person shouldn’t take all the burden on themselves and how Sorey learns to rely on other people

Like Lailah staying silent bc of her oath and how that pains her

Like Mikleo... forming a pact with Sorey.....

God I love Zestiria for breaking tropes everywhere

Did I mention how Alisha and Rose have such good platonic relationships with Sorey? Yeah and you can take out the romantic hinting and it is still a good relationship? Without any shoehorning of ‘forced het couple’?

Compared to the start when Sorey was full-out 'don’t kill hellions Zaveid how could you!!!!’, you can see how the darker themes shine here

What I wouldn’t give for a corrupted!Sorey though, I was expecting it bc of clips I saw on Youtube BUT IT NEVER HAPPENED!!! Lowkey sad tho. Would love an arc where Sorey gets overcome by malevolence and becomes, like a jerk, but as like a morally grey character not fully blown evil (like Jerk Rose ig)

The epilogue with everyone!!! The Lord of the Lands (yeah Uno is very pretty)!!! Lucas!!!! Sergei and Alisha!!! The little drawings in the credits detailing Sorey’s journey!!!! Awwww

Overall a happy ending for Sorey and friends which is GREAT

Love the girl’s party vibe, and how we get cameos of Zaveid and Mikleo (LET US SEE MORE DEVASTATED MIKLEO PLEASE....) along the way

Sadly no more DLC episodes :( wonder why that got axed, bc fans didn’t like it?

Overall I must say the Zestiria cast is awesome, I really like all the characters and how they are fleshed out very neatly with their own quirks and goals. Edna being god tier with her monotone sarcasm (she is QUEEN....), Zaveid being that dumbass that looks like a stripper (HIM.... baby...), Mikleo being ultimate waifu and how his comedic moments shine with Edna and everyone else when he’s being teased, Sorey being so pure and cute when he geeks out with Mikleo and how his character arc is just such a refreshing take on the hero archetype, Dezel with his stoicness Imma Get Revenge but also his cast knowledge and love for animals, Rose for exploring the side of reality in the malevolence in people’s hearts and her :3 smile and her determination to get things done and how she’s so different from Sorey which only brings out her charm, Lailah with her awful puns and eccentricity and quiet compassion. And uh, Alisha for being the bait-and-switch heroine but a decent character with her own personal goals that are separate from the main character. Sergei and Lucas are also very lovable.

As for the setting, Rolance and Hyland as two kingdoms seem a little small scale compared to lets say if they added one more kingdom, but seeing as this is a 2015 game I think the exploration map is pretty good (then I compare to Xenoblade Chronicles which came out in 2010 and just change the subject). Love the outside game mechanics Giant’s Fist, Wind Stepping and Water Shield (when Mikleo protects Sorey with that!!! And Sorey calls him out by saying he’s been practicing it for a long time... And you recall every time Mikleo asks Dezel and the other older seraphim to teach him stuff so he can get stronger to help Sorey and how 99.9% of his character revolves around Sorey). ‘That spinny mist thing sure gets the job done’ haha. 

Anyway, great game and plot, please go check out if you have time, esp rn since animes and other games coming out will be stalled it is a great time to check out older games aaaaaaa
